Frequently asked questions

How do you add a markup to a cost?

Multiply the cost by 1 plus the markup. A 40 percent markup on a cost of 50 gives a price of 70. That price carries a margin of about 28.6 percent, which is always the smaller of the two numbers.

How exact is it?

The arithmetic is exact and rounded the way money is, at the cent. What it cannot know is anything specific to you, so read it as the ordinary case rather than as advice.

Is anything uploaded?

Every figure is worked out in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, there is no sign-up, and no result is stored anywhere but on your own device.
