Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a percentage discount?
Multiply the price by the percentage and divide by 100 to get the saving, then subtract it. 25% off 120 saves 30, so you pay 90.
How do I find the percentage off from two prices?
Subtract the sale price from the original, divide by the original and multiply by 100. From 120 to 90 that is 25% off. The third mode does it for you.
How do two discounts stack?
They multiply rather than add: 20% off and then 10% off the new price leaves 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72 of the original, so 28% off in total.
Is tax included?
The calculator works on the price you enter, whatever it includes. Use the VAT calculator to split tax out of a price or add it on.
