Frequently asked questions

What is compound interest?

Interest that is added to your balance and then earns interest itself. Over long periods it does most of the work: the interest column of the table grows faster every year.

Is tax taken into account?

No. Savings and investment income are taxed differently in every country, so the calculator shows the gross result. Deduct your own rate to see the net figure.

Does it account for inflation?

No. The balance is in today's money at face value. To think in real terms, use a rate reduced by expected inflation.

Are my figures private?

Yes. Everything is worked out in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
